Why organic mehedi is different
Natural colour
The colour comes from the henna leaf itself. It starts orange and darkens to deep maroon-brown in 24–48 hours.
No chemicals
No ammonia, PPD or artificial dye — far less risk of burning, itching or blisters.
Lasts longer
Applied properly, the stain on the hands usually lasts 1–2 weeks before fading gradually.
Fresh and handmade
Every cone is made by hand from fresh henna leaves, so it flows smoothly for fine designs.
How to identify real organic mehedi
- It never turns black right away — it starts light orange and darkens later. Black colour within minutes means chemicals.
- It smells like henna leaves, not like sharp chemicals.
- Real organic mehedi does not keep long at room temperature, which is why it should be refrigerated. Mehedi that stays good outside for months usually contains preservatives.
- If it burns, itches or turns the skin red, wash it off at once — organic mehedi should not do that.
- Check that the pack lists its ingredients and the seller's contact number.

How to use organic mehedi (step by step)
- Wash your hands with soap and dry them. Lotion or oil on the skin stops the colour from setting.
- Snip just the very tip of the cone so you can draw thin lines.
- Draw with light pressure. A thicker layer gives a darker stain.
- When it starts to dry, dab on a little lemon-and-sugar water with cotton so the paste stays on the skin.
- Keep it on for at least 6–8 hours, overnight if you can.
- Scrape the dry paste off instead of washing it. Keep water away for the first 12–24 hours.
- Mustard oil or the warmth of roasted cloves on the hands makes the colour even deeper.

How long does the mehedi colour last?
The colour is darkest on the palms and lasts 1–2 weeks there; on the back of the hand it fades a little sooner. Frequent soap, detergent or hot water fades it faster. Nail mehedi stays with the nail — the colour shows until the nail grows out and is trimmed.
How to store organic mehedi
Put the cones in the fridge as soon as they arrive; cones you will use much later keep longer in the freezer. Take one out 20–30 minutes before use. Never keep them in the sun or a hot place — heat weakens the colour.
Nail mehedi
Nail mehedi colours the nails like nail polish, but without chemicals. Apply a thick layer on clean nails and leave it for a few hours — the colour goes from orange to deep. To get hand and nail mehedi together, see the hand + nail sets.
Henna for hair
For a natural reddish tint and conditioning, mix henna powder with water or tea liquor, let it rest for a few hours and apply. Leave it for 1–2 hours and rinse with water only; skip shampoo that day.
